Frequently Asked Questions

1. What Is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a general term used for several different forms of controlled and conscious breathing. The breathing technique your meditation guide will be using is called ‘Active Breathing’ which is a simple process that offers transformation from within.

Following your initial introductory experience, guided meditations may focus on:

  • Manifestation visualizations to support creative and personal goals

  • Internal and external cleansing

  • Processing grief, forgiveness, and releasing old habitual beliefs and patterns

  • Greater confidence: Committing to Radical or Gentle Self Love and Self-Care

2. How does Active Breathwork work?

Breathing into the belly and heart, followed by the exhale, increases the oxygen levels in the body to create energy and flow. This 3 part, open mouthed, rhythmic meditation cycle, also creates space for emotions and energetic blocks to move through the body as you begin to feel more open and clear.

3. How can a meditation guide best support me?

The support of a meditation facilitator is especially beneficial for those who have heard about the many benefits of meditation, but still struggle to develop or sustain a consistent personal practice. As your commitment to self-care grows, a trained Breathwork practitioner can help to deepen and expand your ongoing exploration of mindfulness and personal transformation, and serve as an invaluable resource for other healing tools and services shared throughout your time together. What are additional health and wellness benefits Breathwork supports? Among it’s numerous health and wellness benefits, Breathwork is known to regulate the nervous system to help release stress, anxiety, fears, help process emotions and to tap into and enhance your creative and personal potential.

4. What should I expect in a private session?

Breathwork is meant to help get you out of your head and into your heart. This technique allows you to feel your energy and taps into the emotions that may be blocking your connection to yourself and others as we explore where you are feeling most stuck.

5. What should I expect in a couple's session?

What to expect in a Couples session: You and your loved one, friend or family member, will be guided through the exploration of the Active Breathwork technique. You may focus on individual or shared intentions, play connection games to foster connection, develop communications skills, have the opportunity to express challenges if desired and express gratitude.

6. Is Breathwork safe?

Participating in Breathwork activities can result in deep emotional release through crying, shaking of hands or legs. ‘Lobster claw’ also known as tetany is an involuntary contraction of the hands or mouth muscles, resulting in CO2 decrease and PH increase in the body. These symptoms are completely normal and natural. It is advised to slow down, resume nostril breathing temporarily to release any muscle tightness, and gently shake out built up tension. You may resume active breathing again when ready. Resistance in the body may arise as you confront stuck energy. It may appear as distractions which serve to pull you out of the process. This too is natural and normal. Your facilitator will offer gentle cues to guide you through this “work stage’ of the process. You are invited to breathe through the nostrils momentarily if needed and continue the active breath when comfortable.

Disclaimer: Breathwork falls under the category of Energy medicine, and is a holistic approach to health and wellbeing intended to complement and not replace any prescribed medical care. Practitioners/Facilitators do not diagnose conditions or prescribe treatment. You are encouraged to consult your physician to ensure breathwork is safe for you before participating in a session.
